At Love to Stay 30A, we want you to enjoy your 30A vacation to the max. Sometimes an unexpected rainy day, sudden sickness and even a global pandemic (we’re looking at you, COVID-19) can put a hamper on your good time out and about. If you’re looking for fun things to do while you stay safe and stay at home in our of our luxury 30A vacation rental homes, we’ve got plenty of great ideas for you. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite fun things to do at “home” for your 30A vacay.

Movie Night

Who doesn’t love a great movie night? It’s the perfect time to cuddle up, get comfy on the couch and watch something new (or old) together. It’s not a movie night without the right snack so be sure to grab your favorites: popcorn, soda, candy, nachos, hot dogs or whatever your heart desires. Everyone knows on vacation the calories don’t count ;)

If you’re not sure what to watch, check out what’s currently playing on cable or stream from one of your favorite streaming services. A quick Google search can give you great ideas on what to watch in any genre: romance, comedy, family-friendly and more. It might be the perfect time to introduce the kids to an old, nostalgic favorite of yours or enjoy a late night tear-jerker with the girls the night before the bachelorette party. Whatever the occasion may be, a movie night is always fun!

Board Games and Cards

If your idea of board games is Monopoly and Yahtzee, it’s time to step into the future. There are tons of amazing board games available today. From cooperative games, perfect for kids who get a little too competitive, to all-nighter strategy games, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Swing by a local Target or Walmart and peruse the game aisle or bring one of your favorites from home.

If you’re like us, you might have a few new, unplayed games you haven’t gotten around to learning yet. Your 30A vacay may be the perfect time to learn and play something new. Perhaps you like the old classics and look forward to dusting off a favorite. Playing cards are another great, inexpensive option. Maybe it’s time for some endless rounds of poker and 500 Rummy. They even have wonderful games for groups on phone apps like Heads Up. The options are endless! Whatever you play, you’re making great memories together – as long as you aren’t too sore of a loser.

Read a Good Book

Your 30A vacay is the perfect time to crack open a new book. If you’re anything like us, you probably have a stack of books “to be read.” There’s no time like the present. Bringing along a book to the beach is always a great option but, on rainy days, it’s a great opportunity to stay “home” in bed and get some pages in. If your traveling with kids, it’s a good time to put a dent in their summer reading list or do some classic book family read aloud time.

Cooking and Cocktails

With grocery delivery options along 30A, it’s easy to get fresh ingredients without wasting time shopping in the store. We love cooking new meals and family favorites during vacation. Not only is it the best way to save money and stay in budget during your vacation, it’s also fun to cook together. At our 30A vacation rental homes, the kitchens come with everything you need to make a wonderful meal to enjoy and many homes have BBQ grills for whipping up amazing steaks, burgers and veggie burgers for the hungry crowd.

Minute to Win It Games

The show “Minute to Win It” popularized some simple, minute-long, camp-style games. From “face the cookie,” a game where you use your face muscles to get a cookie from your forehead into your mouth (no hands allowed) and “stack attack,” a game where you stacking 36 cups in a pyramid and then back down into a single stack, there are tons of fun options. A simple Google search will turn up tons of fun game options you can enjoy from the comfort of your 30A vacation rental.
