From free Christmas activities to parades, ice skating and seasonal shows, we’re adding to our list of things to do in December.
On Tuesday, December 3rd, Beach and Brew on 30A will host its second annual community event to benefit the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County. From 5:30-7:30pm, participants will learn from local artist Maxine Orange and create their own holiday canvas paintings. Tickets go for $50 and include all the materials and supplies to create your art piece as well as a free pastry from Black Bear Bread Company. Be sure to reserve your spot in advance as there are limited spaces available.
The Seaside Holiday Market is one of our favorite places to stop during the month of December. It’s practically a local tradition! The market runs throughout the December on Friday, Saturday and Sundays, starting at 3pm. The event takes place at the Seaside Lyceum. Local vendors offer unique homemade and artisan goods, holiday food, crafts and more. Enjoy the holiday lights and festive decorations that make Seaside one of the 20 Best Christmas Towns in Florida.
Bring the kids along for family fun. From 4-7pm face painting is available along with visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus every weekend pre-Christmas. Get your holiday pictures taken and find wonderful gifts for the people on your list this year. You can even skate in their brand new synthetic ice rink. It’s a fun alternative to the traditional skating experience. You can purchase tickets that include a 30-minute skate time including skate rentals, a photo with Santa, face painting and a free beverage and treat.
Ice skating on 30A is a rare seasonal treat. Thankfully, The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin is offering opportunity to glide on the ice throughout the season until February 1st. Dust off your skates and visit Baytowne Ice Rink for some winter fun. The pavillion is a 40ft by 60ft ice rink enclosed in a tent. If you don’t have your own skates, they offer $3 skate rentals. Rates are $11 per skater for 90 minutes of icy fun. Seasons passes can be purchased at the Baytowne Wharf Neighborhood Association Office during normal business hours. Check their website for the full schedule and hours. There are extended hours on weekends.
Wednesday nights at The Village of Baytowne Wharf are the perfect time to visit for music lovers. The events take place in the Events Plaza and are free and open to the public from 6-8pm.

The Wednesday Night Concerts will be followed by visits from Santa. Wednesday nights also feature a festive light show on the Village tree at 6, 7 and 8pm for the 12 Nights of Light.
Stop by The Village of Baytowne Wharf for other great holiday events like the Tuba Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 14th or Winter Wonderland in the Event Plaza on December 21st, complete with snowy fun. Ring in the New Year in style on Tuesday, December 31st at the Baytowne Countdown NYE, a family-friendly event everyone is sure to enjoy. There will be live music and fireworks.
The Seaside REP Theatre is bringing back heir smash-hit holiday comedy for the 10th year in a row. “Every Christmas Story Ever Told… And Then Some” is fresh every year, with a reimagined script and new jokes. The show is great for all ages! You can purchase tickets online for one of the showings. Prices are $30 a ticket for adults and $20 for kids 12 and under.

Stop by Destin Commons on the weekends in December for more festive fun. Christmas trees, lights, decorations and carolers set the holiday atmosphere. The Commons are a great place to stroll and get your shopping done. Kids can even write and send off their letters to Santa using the red North Pole Express mailbox at Guest Services. Kids can have their photos taken at Bass Pro Shops as well. There will be various live performances throughout the season including a local theater company, youth orchestra, jazz band and quartet.
